Trey Songz Talks About Making 'Bottoms Up' with Nicki Minaj [VIDEO]
MTV: "I actually told her when we were going to do the record, 'Baby, I want you to come by and listen to the album, I want it to be all the way authentic,' " Trey continued. " ' 'Cause I know you doing a lot of features, I know you supposed to be focusing on your album, and I know it's probably a lot going on with you right now. So I want you to come by when you get some time and I want to build with you.' I've known Nicki for about two years now, but we never ever had a chance to really build and have a real conversation. So she came to the studio for three hours and listened to my whole album."
The Virginia singer said that with his "I Invented Sex" and "Say Aah" records still spinning on radio, he wanted "Bottoms Up" to be able to stand out on its own. He called the single "an anthem" and explained that the title is derived from the phrase "bottles up," but a member of his crew suggested the more broad twist "Bottoms Up."

About the show (aired July 28 2008): Kanye West meets with young war veterans so that he can hear about their experiences firsthand and do what he can do to help them out at a critical time in their lives.
While on the road during his Glow in the Dark tour, Kanye finds himself face-to-face with three young veterans -- one in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one in Austin, Texas; and one in Charlotte, North Carolina. Each veteran has a unique story, but all three have two things in common: each served in Iraq and has been struggling to lead a normal life now that they are back at home. Whether it was facing a family debt that grew while they we're serving their country or an inability to work while being treated for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), each of these young vets was danger of slipping through the cracks.
In each city, Kanye meets with one of these troubled veterans and listens to their Homecoming stories. Each is treated to a night out, with tickets to Kanye's concert and an all-too-rare good time in the midst of a disconcerting time in their lives. Most importantly, in each case, MTV and Kanye team up help. Whether it's paying off debt, assistance finding a job or help with school bills, each gets a helping hand from MTV and the Kanye West Foundation.
For a final treat, Kanye & MTV brings each veteran to Chicago for Kanye's triumphant Homecoming show. On one hand, the entire experiences is nothing more than small thanks for the sacrifices these veterans made for their country. On the other, the emotional, once-in-a-lifetime experience may prove to be the helping hand they've been lacking since returning home from the war.

As part of this Rapfix Live's "Pass The Mic" segment, Cam'ron asks Fat Joe how hard it was for him to rebuild and maintain the Terror Squad brand, label, etc after Big Pun's death.
Always the candid storyteller, Fat Joe talked about what it was like touring with Cam back in the day, providing an interesting ‘behind-the-scenes’ look into the playful side of two of New York’s hardened rappers.
Joe then went on to answer the question, discussing what it was like to revamp the TS brand after his good friend, Big Pun, passed away.
“We just worked hard and made great music man,” Fat Joe told Sway. “Can’t let nobody tell you, you can’t make it. It’s all about perseverance, it’s all about determination. It’s all about confidence and believing in yourself.”
Fat Joe later described his determination by dubbing himself the “Original Eminem,” giving fans a deeper glimpse into what it’s like to make it against all odds.

"We all sat down and conversed," Foxy told MTV News recently. "We all know if it's not the main four, the only four, it can't be. Nas, myself, AZ and Cormega, that is the Firm. There is no other artist that can substitute for Nas, AZ, Cormega and myself. If all four of us can't do it, it can't be done."
"AZ and myself are inseparable throughout the years. He can walk in my house and go inside the refrigerator, get whatever he wants," she said. "Cormega is like my brother. You know Nas, Nas has gone his way. He got married and has gone through his own stuff. I went to prison, lost my hearing. We all just had our lives take different turns. We realized that everywhere we go, people are like, 'The Firm, the Firm.' A was like, 'We gotta do this.' That's when the rumors started."
During a recent concert in New York, Brown brought out AZ and Cormega. She says that before they all can fully reunite, Nas and Mega have to work things out.
"He and Cormega — everybody knows the legendary beef between them," she assessed. "So, [the challenge is] getting them in the same room together. Nas had a concert at Lincoln Center two Christmases ago. AZ wasn't there, but me and Cormega came out. So they can get in the same room together. And they can kind of alleviate the bullsh-- and say, 'Let's get this money now.'
We're older, let's get this money. "We started as babies," she added. "We were babies, like '96, '97, selling millions of records together. We have history together. I'm the one that's close to each one of them. I'm the link that can bring each one of them together. So it's Nas getting in the same room with Mega. And then we're good. His personal feelings with Mega, they have to work that out. Once they do that ... They have a history that AZ and I can't relate to. There's something they have to work out. I know I can get them together."
VIDEO: Lloyd Banks' Announces New Label Deal
MTV Rapfix: "I decided to take my talents to EMI," Lloyd Banks told MTV News' Sway,
putting his own twist on LeBron James' controversial free agency signing announcement.
Banks might not move as much ink (as in newspaper headlines) as the NBA superstar, but he was courted almost as heavily by various labels who were looking to scoop the independent artist.
The G-Unit member said his former recording home, Interscope, and Def Jam were among those aggressively pursuing the Queens MC.
But in the end, Banks said he bypassed both major labels in order to avoid signing a long-term commitment that would require options to deliver multiple albums.
The news was amplified moments after the announcement when a press release was issued trumpeting both Banks and Tony Yayo as EMI signees.
"We are delighted to join forces with G-Unit and artists who are truly marquee names in hip-hop," Mike Harris, executive Vice President/General Manager for EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution, said in the statement. "G-Unit is a huge force. Lloyd Banks knows how to deliver a lyrical punch and his single has already generated huge anticipation for the album.. Tony Yayo is a totally unique talent, and 'Pass the Patron' already has the hip hop world buzzing about his album coming out next year."
