Fight Erupts on Court at Spain v. France Basketball Quarterfinal (2012 Olympics) [VIDEO]
France's Nicolas Batum sucker hit Spain's captain Juan Carlos Navarro with just 23 seconds left in the Olympic quarterfinal match.. Emotions ran high as Spain went on a 10-0 run giving Spain the lead at 57-64 and with only a play or two left. France's Batum, likely out of frustration, ran up behind Navarro who had possession and swung at his midsection from behind. Both teams stormed the court and the refs were able to break the two apart though it took some time to calm both sides down. Batum received an unsportsmanlike foul and the final score of 59-66 favored Spain. Spain will now advance to the semifinals where they will play against Russia, who beat Lithuania earlier today.. Sorry for the lack of audio but I had to set this up quickly so I wouldn't miss it hopefully another video will come up with sound, but for now you can still see what transpired.

Could THIS Be The Most Intense Olympic Sport? [WHOA]
This Saturday, I was relaxing at home while the Olympics played in the background on my television.. While eating some amazing Lenny & John's, I began to (somewhat) watch the USA v. Korea women's volleyball game. After about a half hour (gotta digest), I went outside and took a quick swim in the pool while the TV was still on.. When I came back inside and went upstairs to change, I my hear my friend yelling from the living room, "Whaaat!?!?" "This is f*cking crazy!" "Lauren, you have to come see this!!" I run downstairs, not sure what was happening, when all of the sudden I turn to the television and start to watch something I had never seen before. There are nets and goalies on both sides of a court but it's not soccer or lacrosse... The women on both teams are running back and forth across the court at high speed, throwing a ball with one hand to their respective teammates with unbelievable precision. As I continued watching, I start to see some elements of basketball "Oh shit! Was that an ale-yoop?" "What a crossover!" Whatever was going on I was fascinated and needed to know what the hell was happening on my TV. My friend, who was equally as drawn to this foreign sight, went on the Olympic website to find out what exactly it was that we were watching. Turns out it's Handball (otherwise known as Team Handball, European Handball or Olympic Handball)! No, not the sport city kids play in the summer with their worn out skybounce (known as American Handball), this is on a whole other level. I'm not going to get too detailed with the rules (which you can see here or here), but you can get a better understanding of the game if you view the court diagram below while watching some plays.
Watch some exciting Team Handball videos right after the jump and tell me, isn't this one of the best sports you've never known about? Seems like Britain has the same idea :) Moreover, looks like Jonathan Tjarks of SBNation.com as well as Aaron Morton of Deseretnews.com about this subject the #samedamntime as me.. Can this thrilling sport pick up steam in the U.S. like is around the rest of the world? Time will tell if the hype and interest in Team Handball will continue to increase.
Lego Basketball: USA v. France + more highlights #Olympics [VIDEO]
Check out this clever Lego reenactment of the USA Men's Basketball team's 2012 Olympic opener vs. France.. UK's The Guardian has introduced an exclusive series called "Brick-By-Brick" which uses Lego stop animation to reconstruct sports game highlights, including those from the most recent World Cup. The British news provider continues their creative tradition in their newest video above featuring Lego versions of USA superstars, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Tony Parker (playing for France) and more. Hopefully we will be seeing more of these as the Olympic games continue! Also, hit the jump/continue to view photos from yesterday's game in which Kobe & Co. beat France 98-71. If you're a sucker like me you'll also want to see our First Lady Michelle Obama give hugs and congratulations to the entire national team after their win..

President Obama Talks Jeremy Lin, Chicago Bulls & more [VIDEO]
youtube link
The B.S. Report made a special road trip to the White House yesterday to make podcast history: the first-ever podcast with a sitting U.S. President. Take that, Marc Maron! Even if we only had 25 minutes, Grantland editor-in-chief Bill Simmons and President Obama covered a bunch of sports-related topics, including how the President manages to make time to follow sports; his feelings on Linsanity and the Bulls' title chances; whether he considered getting involved with the NBA lockout; the wisdom of a college football playoff system; his feelings on concussions and the NFL; what it's like to throw out the first pitch before baseball games; his favorite White House visits from championship teams; coaching his daughter's basketball team; the pearls of wisdom he recently dispensed to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin; and his answers to two "greatest ever" questions (one basketball, one television).
