As part of Red Bull Music Academy’s all-borough Five out of Five event series highlighting classic rap albums, Chairman Mao (or as he’s known to us, Jeff) of Ego Trip fame sat down with the (?) greatest rapper (?) of all times–or at the very least the foremost practitioner of the “Art of Storytelling.” I’m talking ’bout Slick Rick, crumbs. The topic, of course, was Ricky D’s al-time classic The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, and not only was our dude Yahya Ismail on hand to record the whole thing for Okayplayer TV but he fleshed out with archival footage to illustrate Rick’s source material, so it is almost like you are inside his head looking out at the world through his eyes. Eye-patch not included.
